On October 16, 2018, a teacher training course was held at the Institute of Inorganic and Analytical Chemistry on the topic of "Renewable Energies as a Subject of Basic Science Education". The training was perceived with great interest and makes the participating teachers want more events of this kind. Together with Dr. Dominique Rosenberg (European University Flensburg) and Prof. em. Dr. Walter Jansen (former University of Oldenburg) and Mr. Axel Franke (Robert-Koch-Schule Clausthal-Zellerfeld) this event was planned and carried out by the Fittschen working group. After an introductory lecture by Dr. Dominique Rosenberg, a total of seven stations were offered for participation, which were received with enthusiasm. The Flensburg working group was represented with several stations on redox flow batteries using everyday materials (e.g. red wine, coffee and green tea). In addition, there was another station by Christian Lutz (AG Fittschen) with a model on vanadium redox flow batteries. Other stations offered experiments on hydrogen fuel cells and lithium ion batteries. The training was supported by funding from the Braunschweig Competence Center for Teacher Training and the Rostock Teacher Training Center of the GDCh.
