From 13 to 14.03.2018 the excursion in the elective module "Microanalytics and Resources" of the chemistry master study took place. At the invitation of the director of the Hygiene Institute of the Ruhr Area, Professor Dr. Dunemann, Professor Dr. Fittschen drove to Gelsenkirchen with the students in the Master's program as well as some doctoral students. After a typhoid epidemic in 1901, the foundation of the Hygiene Institute was initiated by Robert Koch, a native of Clausthal. Today, the whole range of analysis of water, soil and air as well as food, etc. is covered there. In addition to lectures, there was also the opportunity to experiment in the laboratories themselves. The students were able to work on a UPLC-ESI-MS system. The staff of the Hygiene Institute readily provided information to the students. Link to the Hygiene Institute: http://hygiene-institut.de/
