Brocken hike

On 29.03.22 the working group undertook a hike on the Goethe Trail from Torfhaus to the Brocken. The total distance was about 18 kilometers. There was nothing to complain about the weather: it was sunny and relatively warm. Nevertheless, there was a lot of snow on the trail. Despite the icy and slippery surface, everyone arrived at the summit in good health, including four first-time climbers. While the majority of the group was able to relax following the exertions of the climb, the first-time climbers were subjected to a written test in which their level of knowledge about the Brocken was tested and subsequently awarded. After a rest break and a satisfying meal, the return trip was started. The descent in the early afternoon was much more pleasant, as the sun had partially melted the snow and exposed many of the slippery sections. So everyone returned home a little tired, but unharmed.
