Participation at the European Conference on X-ray spectrometry (EXRS)

The biennial conference EXRS this year was hosted in Sicilian, Catania by the Institute of Heritage Science of CNR in collaboration with the University of Catania and Laboratori Nazionali del Sud of INFN. The conference was attended by 280 participants from all over the world and covers a wide field of topic in x-ray spectrometry. Among other topics general XRF, TXRF, mXRF, XANES, tomography and EPMA topics are presented. This year X-ray emission spectroscopy (XES) was a hot topic in multiple presentations.

The IAAC was represented by Frithjof Mähler and Prof. Dr. Ursula Fittschen. Frithjof Mähler presented a talk with the title “Kα X-ray emission spectroscopy: an reliable tool for the determination of oxidation state of 3d-elements?” and with that he contributed to the hot topic of XES as well. Furthermore, the possibility of exchange with different researchers was used.

The next EXRS will be 2028 in Paris organized by Philippe Jonnard and his team.
