Introductory Course in Materials Analysis
On October 20, 2025, a group of high school students visited the Department of Materials Analysis at the Institute of Inorganic and Analytical Chemistry as part of a college orientation program.
The 10 participants in the introductory course and 2 participants from the Lower Saxony Technical College conducted chemical experiments and analyses in small groups at various stations.
They qualitatively analyzed various salts based on flame coloration and conducted experiments with baking soda and ammonium chloride. An atomic absorption spectrometer was used for the quantitative determination of trace metals in tea extracts and water samples.
The participants took full advantage of the opportunity to learn about degree programs and training opportunities in chemistry and related fields. Thanks to the high proportion of hands-on experiments, the participants were able to test their practical skills in the lab.
